I wanted to share with you something I have been doing lately. My three year old son Little Lloyd has been learning a new word every week from me. His granddad and I have been giving him big words to use and teaching him the meanings. Sometimes we underestimate the power of what kids can grasp! So far, Little Lloyd knows what repetitious, relentless and plethora means. And he can use them in a sentence in the right context. I practice with him all the time. Simple concept, I know, but consistency and practice is what works.

Looking at my three year old and seeing what he is capable of is amazing. It reminds me that with continued education, practice and consistency we as adults can too do whatever we want to do. I drill home to my investing students that they need to consistently show up and continue their education. And the students who show up at all of our live meetings for 12 months and participate on our coaching calls are the ones making the most money. Why? Because they are consistent. It’s a proven pattern and trait of successful people.

And when we have our live investment meetings each month we talk about associating with other successful people. Those are people you should be surrounding yourself with. Let me give you an example. You have a room full of people who all learn the exact same thing during a training class. All are given the exact same tools to succeed. Some go out and apply what they have learned. And others do not put in much effort.

What do you think happens when the successful student talks with another successful student? Well I can guarantee they are talking about their successes and how to improve upon them and encouraging each other to keep up the good work.

What do you think happens when the person who didn’t put any effort in gets together with another person who put forth no effort? Well I can guarantee that they are whining and complaining about how awful the training was and how it just does not work. In a nutshell they are making each other feel better about their laziness and living in the sheer denial that the problem is their unwillingness to work.

In life you will meet both types of people. Doers and talkers. It is up to you to choose what side of the fence you want to be on. Do you want to surround yourself with successful action takers? Or will you be content hanging out with talkers who never take any action? My hope is that you surround yourself with action takers. The latter can be a nightmare and fatal mistake.

He is trying to let me down gently! I saw the look in his eyes! I’m not talking about my husband Lloyd… My gym coach and mentor Jim is breaking up with me. He told me he wanted me to be more independent and start working out more on my own. I feel panicked! LOL But I know I can do it. Jim mostly has me doing body weight exercises now using the stability ball. That is what has me in such great shape! I thought it was going to be all machines and huge weights, but I am seeing that nothing beats using my own body weight.

I got to thinking about how Jim is leaving me and told me to consult with him only when I have questions or find myself in a bind. I can’t really be upset because that is the exact same approach I take with my real estate investing students. In life, a good qualified coach or mentor is suppose to teach you how to fish for yourself rather than just hand fish to you. Our investors are given so many resources for an entire year that includes a support system full of live meetings and coaching calls and access to mentors. But I taught all of my mentors to show each student how to make it work on their own so that they know how to survive no matter what. That is the key to success. Mentors should be supplements to you taking action and getting things done yourself. I don’t like to rely on other people for my own success or results, that is not empowering to me. What is empowering is being in control of my own destiny and decisions, nobody can ever take that from you.

So no matter what it is that you do in life, be sure to find yourself a great mentor or coach who teaches you how to survive on your own, but is there to catch you if you fall and get you back on track. That is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself.

Woooow! Life has been HECTIC and I am exhausted. I miss you! But you can rest assured I have been working my behind off! Besides the 7:00am daily gym workouts (that are yielding some nice progress lol) I have been busy with real estate investing and learning new models, strategies and adapting to new laws. As with any business, regulations and rules change all the time, and the smart people keep up with them!

At the same time, my house has been the home to famous UFC fighter Brandon Vera who is here from CA training with my husband Lloyd. They just left for the UK for the fight that will be on Saturday this weekend. Today the fed ex guy dropped off some packages and recognized Lloyd as Brandon’s trainer and wanted to chit chat for an hour trying to get a peek at Brandon who hid upstairs LOL. If you think I am busy, spend a day trailing Lloyd Irvin. He teaches martial arts, real estate investing, on-line marketing to prominent dentists and a host of other things, all the while being a father and husband. Rarely does he even get tired. I’m starting to think he is not human.

But what I glean from all of this are the traits of extraordinary people. People who stand out from others for their accomplishments. One of my favorite things to do is to watch the patterns of successful people. I remember some years back when Lloyd and Brandon got together and dreamed about getting to the UFC. I remember hearing them formulate a plan. Fast forward, here they are consistently fighting in the UFC and realizing their dreams. I remember when Lloyd first got into marketing and setting his goals. I watched him devour everything he could read and aligning himself with mentors. That has paid off in ways that I never thought possible.

When Brandon trains for his fights he trains like a madman doing things that I expect to land him in the hospital for pure exhaustion.

The traits of most successful people are evident. While there are several of them, I want for you to think about one in particular. And that is IMPLEMENTATION. You can have all the desire and passion in the world about something, but if you do no get off your butt and actually put those desires into action you have nothing but a dream. Nobody has anything over you except the fact that they have taken to initiative and put their dreams into motion. Nobody can do that for us but ourselves.

What is your passion or desire? What do you KNOW you want to do in life? And most importantly what have you done about it? I want to hear about it. I have some dreams I have been thinking about and I have not put them into action yet. But I am now ready to do just that! What about you?

Man oh man! Are there enough natural disasters going on in the world at one time right now? Tornadoes, earthquakes, floods, fires…wow!

I am sitting here watching news coverage of the West Virginia primaries where Clinton is supposed to slam Obama pretty bad in the polls. Not that is seems to matter at all, I think he has the nomination sewn up. If you are like me, this may be one of the most exciting campaigns ever, two minorities fighting for the democratic nomination. Another one for the history books.

But regardless of your political preferences, there are definitely lessons to be drawn from the entire campaign. Lesson number one…. ANYTHING is possible if you believe in yourself and your convictions strong enough. Nobody thought a virtual unknown like Obama would ever have a real shot at presidency, especially going up against the Clinton machine! Whether you like them or not, the fact remains the Clintons have a whole lot of power in this country. The fact that an African American has taken them on and is winning is something that caught everyone by surprise including the Clintons.

But if we could get a chance to talk to Obama privately, I bet he would confess he knew he had a real shot and this was his destiny. He believed in himself and moved forward full speed ahead. Against all odds, that is what winners do. That is a trait of a successful person, they take action and they go against the odds.

On the flip side, regardless of what you think, because trust me, I have my own opinions too…..Hillary Clinton is a fighter as well. She doesn’t give up when anybody else in her position would have. Another trait of a successful person. Once again, fighting against all odds.

What are you currently facing that you need to beat the odds on? What feat are you dealing with that seems impossible for you to overcome? Because whatever it is, I need you to know that you DO indeed have the strength and fortitude to prevail. It all boils down to will and determination. But if you sit back and do nothing, I can assure you that you will stay stuck where you are.

So you have a choice in life…You can stay content or unhappy with where you are, or you can be a warrior each and every day. A warrior fighting for something better for yourself and your family. I personally choose to be a warrior and be in the driver’s seat of my destiny.

I know you hear me talk about being around positive and like-minded people all the time with similar goals of moving forward in life. When we speak of such things, we tend to relate it to our work, or career goals. But surrounding yourself with movers and shakers in every aspect of your life, no matter what the goal is, is truly the key to ultimate success.

Everyone knows I am lifting weights now and hanging out in the gym. I decided to workout with a serious weight trainer because I am serious about what I am doing. Yesterday at the gym, I know exactly why I took that approach. While I was working out, I took a look around at all the activity. There is one group of women who meet up and work out together, but I swear all they do is talk! They move from machine to machine appearing to be working out, when in reality they are having the time of their lives chatting it up.

I looked in another section and saw a guy who spent all of his time in the mirror making sure his hair was spiked up just right. He kept looking at himself from every angle and he didn’t even have on gym clothes. He was wearing one of those tight fitted club shirts, some jeans and dress shoes while he was lifting weights. Go figure!

Then the real kicker was the guy on the bike machine who talked on his cell phone the whole time. I mean how hard can you be working out if you have the ability to carry on a phone conversation for 30 minutes??!!

That is when it hit me. In life, no matter what it is you wish to succeed in, you have to surround yourself with someone who is just as serious as you are. So even if I am talking about fitness goals, I have to be sure to partner up with someone who wants results like I do.

It’s the same as taking financial advice from someone who has no money. Or signing up to be a part of someone’s business who isn’t making any money from it themselves. Or taking advice on the real estate market from someone who doesn’t know a thing about real estate. Sometimes we get caught up in the hype of what people say and their opinions because they can sound so good, but if you sit back and look at their track record, rather than their words, you quickly realize they are no more qualified to give you advice than an ant! And that is why you need to be careful who you listen to. Surround yourself with successful people who are doers, not just talkers! You will quickly see the difference!

HAVE YOU HEARD??? I am tired of rising gas prices and the oil companies getting rich. So while the politicians argue over who has the best solution, I am doing my part by giving out a $800 GAS CARD at my free real estate investing event tomorrow night! Just kidding! I am not ready for pictures yet! LOL. Jim used to be a pro body builder and he has GUARANTEED that I can get the cuts and muscles I am looking for in about 6 weeks. Right now I am on week number one and have been at the gym every day at 7:00am. HE IS KILLING ME! This is a huge challenge for me because I am really pushing myself. But life is all about challenges and aspiring to new things so I am getting through it. I am also on a strict meal plan. It’s not a diet, I am just eating clean and like a body builder. Here is my meal plan because I know someone is going to ask:

1.Breakfast- Oatmeal and 4 egg whites
2.Protein Shake
3.Chicken breast, sweet potato and broccoli
4.Chicken breast, sweet potato and broccoli
5.Chicken breast sweet potato and broccoli

EVERY DAY ALL DAY! I eat every 3 hours and drink nothing but water. I am only looking for a little muscle definition, so I will let you know how I progress.

People often ask me why I even work out. They always says that I don’t need to. I always have to explain to people that if I am not satisfied with how I look, I have to do something about it. We all have personal goals and what makes us happy, so anything you do in life should be to your satisfaction. I personally am what I call a “Fat skinny girl.” If I do not work out, I cannot wear shorts because I have cellulite for days! Why am I telling you this? LOL.

So when I am unhappy about that, I have to put in the work. The same concept applies to your profession or financial situation. If you are not happy about it, you have to do something to change it because nobody is going to do it for you! If you are in a relationship that is abusive, you have to leave. If you have friends who are unsupportive and kill your dreams, find new friends. If you sit next to a negative co-worker at work, move your seat!

It’s spring time and it is high time to do some spring cleaning! Go hit the gym, get your finances in order and clear people doing you harm out of your life.

I know I talk a lot about removing negative people from your life in order for you to be able to move forward in a positive way. But today, I want to share two real life examples that just happened to me yesterday.

Remember the email I sent out sharing with everyone how I took my mom and mother-in-law to see Oprah on Monday? Well, boy oh boy was I shocked to see two nasty messages from two separate people on my email list! These are the type of people that live and breathe to rain on people’s parades and cause misery. These are people who sit back watching and waiting for any instance to spread their poisonous attitude to others. These, my friends are the types of people you need to RUN far away from! We all know someone like this and to tolerate it in your life is doing a disservice to yourself. Check out Nasty Person Number 1 and Nasty Person Number 2, I cut and pasted for you to see:

NASTY PERSON NUMBER 1

“you need to correct your email. oprah is not the only, nor the first, african american billionaire. nor is she the first african american FEMALE billionaire. in fact, a few of them live in our area. you may perceive oprah has *made it*, but what her specific financial gain is is an unhealthy message from euroamericans that if you deny your heritage, give only lip service to your *blackness*, if you assimilate, appeal to upper middle class euroamericans, if you do not threaten us with facts, we will reward you with riches. in other words, sell out. she is not an inspiration to most african american females with a sense of real identity. her nose narrowed, bush straightened - erase some blackness - from her days on channel 2 news. *what does it prosper a man to gain the whole world but lose his soul.* if the very real presence of racism - rather, eurocentric, neurotic supremecy and economic disenfranchisement - did not impact the western nations, there would be greater affluence in our communities.”

WHOOOO HOOOOOOO!!!! Is it me or what? For sharing my experience taking the ladies in my life to Oprah, this is what I was hit with.

I am classless trailer trash for going to Oprah and perceived as “name dropping”. Did I say I had dinner with Oprah? Or did I say I went to her show? LOL. And the Oprah Basher seems to have a heart full of hatred down to how Oprah wears her hair! And correct me if I am wrong, but I didn’t say Oprah was THE only African American billionaire, I said she is ONE of the only. People of this nature are typically loud and wrong though, that is a trait. And don’t get me wrong, everyone is not an Oprah fan, but the depth of nastiness that cut across this email, goes much deeper than just expressing an opinion.

Now on the flip side, the majority of people that responded to my email, told me congratulations for the experience and shared an experience with me. Several people recognized the bigger message of my email which was the blessing of still having my mom in my life and being able to make my mother in laws dream come true. Some people said they wished they still had their mom and told me to cherish it.

I feel sorry for people who live this way and I feel sorry for the people around who they affect. Fortunately, they cannot affect me.

So thank you to the Negative Nancy’s who sent the emails, you served as a wonderful case study for all the positive people out there trying to live life. If you have Negative Nancy’s in your life that turns and twists every good thing you do in your life, REMOVE THEM TODAY. Sometimes it is even family in which case you have to control what you will and will not tolerate from them!

Yes, I taped the Oprah show this morning with Mariah Carey in Chicago. Only problem is that I was in the audience and not on stage! LOL But that’s ok! What a fabulous experience! For you ladies (and men too) Mariah’s new figure is OFF THE CHAIN! She looked awesome and shared her workout routine as well as performed one of her new songs. We had great seats and Oprah is hilarious! It has been on of my mother-in-law’s dreams to attend the Oprah show, but the waiting list can be years. Thanks to Lloyd, he granted his “mammas” wish and pulled some strings to get us tickets in 45 days! I also brought my mom (75) and my mother-in-law’s best friend. So I am hanging with the “seasoned” ladies, but they are so much fun! So to my hubby if you are reading this, THANKS for the tickets, our moms are having a blast.

By the way, the show airs today at 4:00pm, so if you are by a TV, let me know if you can see me! LOL

Seeing Oprah is such an inspiration whether you are a fan or not. Bigger than that, she is an inspiration and testament to people everywhere that you do not have to be born with a silver spoon in your mouth to attain success. We all know she grew up poor and endured abuse as so many others have, yet she didn’t make excuses or become a victim. Instead those adverse circumstances gave her the strength and desire to make a better way for herself and rise above to become one of the only African American BILLIONAIRES in the world. People really do have choices. I hate when people think they cannot change their circumstances and get caught up thinking they are just unlucky. The will and determination to climb to higher heights lies within all of us. It is up to you to take action and achieve your goals.

Ok, I am back in town and slightly sick, but I will survive. My head is spinning with new ideas and things that I have learned at the conference. The number of people wanting to do some type of joint venture with me is amazing and I am grateful for all of the opportunities.

One of the highlights of my trip was getting to talk with Ron Legrand one of the most famous and richest real estate investors ever. Anyone interested in real estate investing has probably heard of Ron is some shape fashion or form. In fact, many people have been to one of his training programs before. Ron and my husband Lloyd belong to some of the same high level Mastermind Groups and we appeared in a movie with his as well.
But the real kicker is that Ron approached me about doing a joint venture with him! The famous Ron Legrand is interested in teaming with Lloyd and Vicki and Maryland Real Estate Secrets. The success stories from the people at the conference I attended were out of this world. People who have gone from zero to millions in 12 months applying and implementing the right marketing strategies. I wish you could have been there to see ordinary people just like you and me who have acquired success from scratch. It is so inspirational and it enforces what I talk to you about all the time. TAKING ACTION. Nobody is smarter than you are and nobody has an edge you do not. I’m excited because Maryland Real Estate Secrets students came and got to see it for themselves so now they too can validate what I have been saying.

In any event, I must run. We have an investing retreat this weekend that is full to the maximum with people coming to get in on real estate investing at the absolute best time ever. My assistant just called and begged me to come into the office to help them prepare because they are swamped. I don’t mind pitching in because I know it is getting hectic.
